Prayerline Update #2, 2011

Dear Camp Willow Run family,

Hello again from Craig and Madi (Cradi)! We hope this update finds you well and enjoying your summer. We sent our last update at the end of the DJJ week and now we are just wrapping up our third General Public week. It’s crazy to think that we are almost halfway through the summer!

General Public week one, our first combo week (grades 3-5 and 6-8), was a time of great excitement for staff and campers alike. As all the counselors and support staff began to fit into their roles, the campers enjoyed everything from the climbing wall and sailing to low ropes and model rocketry.  The elementary school children learned about the life of David through Mrs. Harris’s interactive Bible studies and also learned simple Gospel truths through five excellent staff-led object lessons. The middle schoolers, listening to our very own Luke Newton, discussed our camp theme of “Run the Race” based on Hebrews 12:1-2, “Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.”  They also heard testimonies of the Lord’s faithfulness from Joseph Colquitt, a counselor, and Sara Beth Sherman, our Waterfront Director.

Our second General Public week and first full middle school week was a very exciting one. We had the privilege of hearing from Matt Hahn, Teaching Pastor at The Creek Church in Cary, NC.  Matt presented the Gospel in a clear and real way Sunday night and continued to challenge both the campers and the staff all week long. It was encouraging to see the mighty work of the Holy Spirit as many campers stood up and accepted Christ into their lives.  Our sailing instructor, Whit Harvey, and counselor Holly Jesensky also provided concrete examples of the Lord at work in their lives through the sharing of their testimonies.

We’re almost done with the third General Public week, our 3rd-5th graders. It has been fun to see the energy and joy that comes from these little kids. Once again, they have had the opportunity to learn about God’s faithfulness in the life of David and hear some object lessons taught by the staff. At the end of each week, the families of the campers are invited to head over to Camp Willow Springs to see the site and the completed dormitory buildings and to eat the camper favorite, Cookie Mush. Every Saturday there has been many visitors and it is has been such an exciting time to talk about the project. Please continue to pray for the development of CWS.

We are incredibly grateful for your partnership in prayer and as the summer continues we ask that you please continue to lift up the ministry at Camp Willow Run.  Pray for the staff, that we will serve the Lord humbly and show great love, wisdom, patience, and joy in all that we do.  Pray for Craig and I as we teach through Galatians and 1 John in GSBS and Spiritual Disciplines in JSBS.  Ask the Lord to reveal Himself to all the staff and be at work in our lives.  Lift up the high school kids that will be joining us next week. Finally, please pray for next week’s speaker, Josh Meadows, and the testimony we’ll be hearing from boat driver Adam Whitehead.

Thanks, once again! It’s such a blessing to have your faithful support.

By His grace and for His glory,

Craig & Madi
