Gifts of Securities
Gifts of stocks and bonds can be given to YCFC. If these securities have been owned for longer than one year and have appreciated in value, giving these securities allows you to avoid the capital gains taxes on those assets. Gifts of appreciated securities may be deducted at full market value on the date of transfer.
Bequests
You can remember YCFC by making a gift through your Will or Living Trust.
Corporate Matching Gifts
Many corporations match gifts to charitable institutions made by employees and directors. To find out if your employer has a matching gift program, please contact your human resources office.
Charitable Remainder Trust
A charitable remainder trust is a life income plan that is created by irrevocably transferring assets to a trust that pays you an annual fixed dollar amount for life or a set time period of twenty years or less. The trust principal is given to the charity after the death of the donor and the donor’s spouse. When you establish a charitable remainder trust, you are entitled to an immediate charitable deduction. Because the tax consequences of a charitable remainder trust may vary, an attorney who specializes in estate planning should be consulted.
Memorial or Honorarium Gifts
A gift in memory of or in honor of someone can be given to YCFC. A card will be sent to the person or family designated to notify them of the gift. You will receive a receipt acknowledging your generous gift.
To ensure that your will or estate plan accomplishes your goals, please consult an attorney who focuses on charitable planned giving. Although YCFC cannot provide our donors legal advice, we would be happy to assist your professional advisor in developing a charitable giving plan to meet your philanthropic needs. Please contact us if you have any questions and/or would like more information about any of these gifting opportunities.
