Prayerline Update #4
Hello Friends of Camp Willow Run,
We hope that all is well with you as our summer is coming to an end. It is hard to believe we are now in our final week of summer 2010. This summer has been incredible. It is evident that the Lord has worked faithfully in the lives of the many campers that have come through this place as well as in the lives of our 40 summer staff.
Since our last update we welcomed our second group of high school campers. The staff was eager to welcome this group of campers as high schoolers always bring a different element of fun and maturity to the week. We were blessed to have Jason Gaston, Student Pastor at Summit Church in Durham, NC speak for the week. He challenged the campers in many ways by continually presenting the Gospel as well as sharing how it applies directly to our hearts, lives, relationships and mission. We were also able to hear from one of Summit Church’s campus pastors, Andrew Hopper, as he shared the Gospel through the story of Hosea. Our waterfront director, Caroline Mebane shared her testimony during evening vespers, reminding everyone that the Lord is faithful and that He is continually pursing us with His love even when we are unfaithful to Him and look to other sources to find our comfort and purpose. The week was a really special time for us and our campers as we spent time laughing, learning and worshiping together.
We are now in our final week of the summer. This week we have 6-8 grade campers. They are definitely energetic and excited to be here, which is keeping our staff enthusiastic about this last week. Matt Windley from Bridge Community Church, in Morrisville, NC is here this week to speak. He is great about getting around camp and hanging out with the kids as well as giving them practical truths to apply to their lives. This week, we also have two staff members, James McDonald and Julia Rice, sharing their testimonies of how the Lord has worked persistently and powerfully in their lives. Please continue to pray for the final days of summer. Pray that the staff will continue to invest in the campers’ lives and show them the love of Christ. Also pray that the Lord will continue to work in the lives of all of our campers from this summer. Pray that the Lord will be showing Himself in their daily lives, in their families and friends, school, work and play.
As our summer 2010 staff commitment nears its end, please pray for the staff as we leave this place. Pray that the Lord will give us peaceful and content hearts, that we would know that our work here has been for His glory. Pray that we would leave with no regrets and that we would be confident that He has worked in us and through us. Also pray that we will stay in touch after we leave and continue to encourage each other in Christ, in our walk with Him and our desire to be bold with the Gospel even when we are no longer in this place!
Thank you again for partnering with us in prayer this summer.
Grace and Peace,
Stepha and Stephen
